On the final full day I counted that we had tackled 43 locks with the canal and river trust helping on the final flight at Marple. Once on our way Roberta explained very clearly how to open and close the locks and also the gates, We moored up about 4pm having travelled about one half miles in three hours. From the trailhead we drove back along Steens Mountain Loop Road a quarter mile and turned right on a narrow gravel road. The trails, the countryside, local fair & the scenic surroundings were breathtaking. the locks that would lead us to our overnight moorings at Piccadilly Basin. We set off at 1pm to open the "Infamous" Rochdale Nine. concept for this introverted photographer, as I normally spend a lot of time wandering outdoors in nature by myself.
